Expert Pediatric Orthopaedic Care

Shriners Hospitals for Children-Tampa is one of 22 Shriners Hospitals.There are 18 orthopaedic hospitals, three burn hospitals, and one hospital that provides orthopaedic, burn and spinal cord injury care.

While the Tampa hospital is equipped and staffed to provide care for virtually all pediatric orthopaedic problems, with the exception of acute trauma, the hospital has developed a special expertise in several areas. Some of the orthopaedic problems most commonly treated at Shriners Hospitals include:

  • Hand disorders
  • Hip disorders
  • Leg length discrepancies
  • Limb deficiencies
  • Metabolic bone disease
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Scoliosis
  • Skeletal growth abnormalities
  • Spina bifida (limited to the related orthopaedic conditions)
  • Cerebral palsy (limited to the related orthopaedic conditions)

The Tampa Shriners Hospital, located on the University of South Florida campus, is a 60-bed facility that has treated over 36,000 children with orthopaedic problems since opening in 1985.
